A box jelly can be the size of a grown up man. They are the reason why in Far North Queensland swimming in the ocean without wearing a stinger suit or inside of a stinger net is not recommendable.

  1. They are seriously scary swimming partners. Especially as their numbers are growing, and their range spreading. All hastened by our over-exploration and mis-treatment of our world oceans. A very sad state of affairs.

  2. I had no idea box jellyfish were that big! But I do agree about man’s exploration and exploitation of the world’s oceans. We have no one to blame but ourselves for the state of most of the world’s natural environments, marine or otherwise. We can’t expect to interefere with carefully balanced ecosystems without causing havoc. Thank you for the interesting info. about the jellyfish.
