I Missed It!

I totally missed it! No, not the Melbourne earthquake last night. Well, I did miss that one too… I am talking about my blog’s 6 month anniversary! I missed it by over a week! Can you believe it? Well anyway. I missed it and I kind of feel bad but let’s just celebrate today and celebrate 6 months and 8 days anniversary. You can totally do that, right?

I was planning on looking back after 6 months and see how the blog developed, how it is doing and if it is worth continuing with it. That was my plan back then. I wanted a handful of followers, was hoping for some people I have a regular exchange in thoughts and was dreaming of views in the area of 3’000 to 4’000…

I look at my blog now and not only am I surprised in which direction it actually developed so far. It is not a typical mommy blog. It is not a typical expat blog. It is not a lifestyle blog. It is my blog. My thoughts. And I have to say, I am pretty happy with this. I look at my stats and I see numbers I’ve never dreamed of seeing after only 6 months (and 8 days). I just surpassed 900 followers (and that does not include Facebook and Twitter…). My blog has over 23’000 views at this point. Numbers I still can’t believe show up in my stats. I am thrilled. I absolutely am thrilled.

But most of all: In the last 6 months a group of bloggers have found each other and we exchange our thoughts in our comments. And this is what I enjoy the most. I know that when I post something most of those bloggers will comment (and if not it is not a problem at all) and I am looking forward to read their posts too. There is a connection. An exchange. With people somewhere in this world, in the UK, in the US, in India, in Singapore and here in Australia as well. And I love it. There is a connection, a conversation, an inspiration. And that is what blogging is all about for me. You guys know who you are.

So this is for every one of you currently reading this post: Thank you so much for all your support over the last 6 months and 8 days! Thank you for your views, for your likes, for the comments you made. Thank you for questioning certain views, thank you for triggering more thoughts. And let’s do it again πŸ™‚

  1. You’re right about the blogging community we meet through our blogs. I’ve met people through my blog that I’ve later met in person. I’ve also known some of my blog buddies for upwards of ten years. That’s a long time! My blog has changed over the years from a strictly my writing attempts to what is now, kind of a collection of the thoughts and experiences that cross my daily life as I grow older. And I like it that way. I’m writing what I know.

Happy BlogAversary! May you have many more!

  2. Yay for you! Happy 6 months! I, too, just had my 6 month anniversary, and while I can’t say I’m pulling in the views you are, I am still happily trucking along. It’s nice to find your niche, isn’t it, and not feel the pressure to conform to a certain group? I’m constantly trying to convince myself that my voice and my story are enough, and feedback from readers like you help me do that. So thanks! Here’s to your next 6 months!
