The world is a book, and those who don’t travel read only a page. – Saint Augustine
Well, I guess it is true… But then on the other side it is not always possible for everyone to travel. I think all that matters is that you keep an open mind. If you do, you can also embrace new things and maybe your book will also grow. Which I think it will anyway. Every day in life is a page in your book. For that you don’t have to travel. But you might be able to add some color to it, something different…
That’s wonderful. We can travel in so many ways. The most beautiful way is the trip to our heart. Then we get an idea of the world…

Isn’t that a journey to our hearts in the meaning of higher awareness… those are the most beautiful trips of all, right?

I think so too! And nobody can take it from us 🙂

Thanks for this. I regularly hear people who travel (who are generally quite well-off) insulting and making grand generalizations about people who don’t. Many people who travel are like people who speed-read through books and don’t retain much of what they read. I live in a place that many people travel to, and it never ceases to amaze me how little of them most of them learn from the place and the people who live here. There’s a lot to be said for getting to know one place, or a few places, very well.

Our little family has imposed a one year ban on travel so we can get our finances together. After that, some money will have to go to seeing something different. I’m a gypsy, I have to see new fields from time to time!

Emily Dickinson never went anywhere, but she traveled:
There is no Frigate like a Book
To take us Lands away,
Nor any Coursers like a Page
Of prancing Poetry –
This Traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of Toll –
How frugal is the Chariot
That bears a Human soul.

My momma always told me that we may be poor, but we could travel anywhere in a book… Words I still live by! Well, even if I HAVE travelled a bit…

Very wise saying. Every day starts with an empty Page, ready to fill in from you ☺

Before I was blessed to have a job that allows me to travel, I traveled in my mind through books. I read them slowly and with purpose and would dream with determination to visit them one day. My mother traveled without my father (he didn’t like it) and took us on small adventures that we saved out money for. As I got older, I learned to save the chump change in my pockets and worked overtime so that I could travel. Travel is what you make it and how you do it- books, car trips down the road or across the state line, it’s all travel.
