You Are What You Do, Not What You Say

A powerful speech given in 1992 by a young girl…

I think it’s important to not forget her words, to remember what she pointed out as I think not much has happened really since. Will it ever change? Will we be able to address the points mentioned in her speech? Do we want to at all? Or is there really too much money involved?

As a mother I’m worried for the future of my children. I’m worried what they will encounter in the years to come, what their children will have to face. Will their life be as happy as ours? Will the world still be the happy place I grew up in? Will there still be enough good to be handle the bad? I hope we are not moving forward blindsided. I hope we consider the generations to come in our quest for success and money, in the way we life our lives…

Only when the last tree is cut down,
the last river poisoned,
the last fish caught,
will we realize that we can’t eat money…

  1. Wow! What an amazing speech! She brought tears to my eyes. Those voices can make an impact in “important” people’s minds. It will take a while like a plant needs to grow but I am confident that something will change. There is always sadness and hatred around. But I believe that something will change towards a healthy future for the world. Let’s all make the steps we can do in our own life. That already can help a lot.
