Earth and sky, woods and field, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books. – John Lubbock
Earth, wind, fire and air…
No matter if it’s the sun, the wind, a fire, an electric storm, rain, heat or cold. Nature can show its power in so many different ways. As beautiful as nature can be, as harsh and brutal the flip-side can be. It’s why I respect nature and its beauty. There is so much to see and to enjoy. But the power behind every little beautiful thing can be enormous and overwhelming too.

did you know you had cockles? Momma used to always say that to me when I was a kid. I always thought it was funny to hear it said.

Well, no, I didn’t but I like this warm feeling that makes you feel loved and comfy and happy and… Well… Warm.

yes! gluhwein gives you that nice warming feeling when you are standing outside drinking it. I tried to make it one time here in the states and it is just not the same.

My husband and I wanted to make it a couple of times here in Australia but decided not to… It wouldn’t be the same…

you have to have the right wine. Australian wines are good but they aren’t the same as local grapes.

I think it’s also the cold…

it could be. I think the wine plays in it tho. I mean, I think German wine tastes different from French but even regional wines have a flavor difference. what do you think?

Definitely. The soil and the weather plays a massive role with wine.

When we lived in Virginia we had a large window in our living room and a farm field across the road. Our favorite thing to do would be to turn out all the lights and sit and watch the storms roll in and roll through. It was seriously impressive. Love the photos!

Oh I would have loved that! I grew up in the mountains and in summer we had those impressive storms. I loved to sit there and just watch them unleash…
