The most important partner in my life is my husband. He is the one person who knows me and carries me, loves me for who I am and makes me feel like I can do everything. I’m so glad we found each other (here is how…).
My partnership with him is for sure the most important one I had in my entire life. Before I met him though, there was another partner in my life I trusted, I loved and gained a lot from. It was my horse.
I horse can give a teenage girl a lot, you know. There’s something about this creature. About going on rides, experiencing nature from the back of a horse. The feeling of becoming one with nature is always there. You feel the horses movement, you hear the hooves on the ground, you smell the horse, the wind in your face when you go faster, the warmth of its body. Nothing better than wrapping your arms around a horses neck when you feel down. Nothing better than getting that little nudge from your horse while walking alongside your horse and your thoughts take over.
I lost my horse shortly after getting married to my husband. Somehow it still feels like she made room for me to move forward. Although I have moved forward and live my life with my beautiful family I still miss her to the day.

Your horse was a beautiful looking creature. I’ve no doubt you miss her. She helped you through the ups and downs of life as you grew older. Good memories to hold on to. š

Yep. Every now and then the weather triggers those memories and I can smell her… sounds weird, I know, but when it’s chilly it reminds me of fall back in the days. The best time to go for rides and that chilly air combined with the scent of her warm and sweaty coat and the beautiful nature around me always got me relaxed (even when it was one of our off days…)…

I understand the power of smell. There are times here in Australia when a certain type smell will take me back to when I first experienced the Fall in the USA.

Yep. I get transported back to Switzerland here every now and then. Especially this morning with the frost on the grass and the cold air…

Lovely. Was she an Arabian? What was her name?

Yes. Her name was Amira. I was told that it means “Princess”. Pure bread Egyptian…

I answered my own question by clicking on your link. My face is soaked in tears after reading, but I’m so touched by your poignant tale of losing your partner. She was a beautiful girl.

Didn’t want to make you cry… sorry. She was special. She had her crazy moments, kept me on my toes. But she gave me so much.

So you are a horse girl too?

Sorry. We were away at the beach. I’m what I refer to as a “horseless” horse girl. š I grew up around them, and most of my friends rode competitively (barrels, cutting, roping). They’re are truly amazing creatures. š
