Time to share a little bit of my world again with you. This time of the week I almost feel like a little kid the night before Christmas as I can’t wait to find out what Cee’s questions for this weeks Share Your World Challenge will be. Sometimes I look at her cover picture for the post and think “aha, there’s a theme…” only to realize that the questions are totally random (in most cases) and this fact makes me giggle. So here we go, this weeks little snippet of my little world:
What’s your most memorable (good or bad) airplane flight?
I think the first trip that pops in my mind was the first time I actually traveled by myself and went to visit my back then boyfriend in South America. We had only just started dating shortly before he had to head back to his country and so going to spend time with him for 5 weeks was a risky little adventure on its own. Therefor I didn’t manage to sleep on the 11 hour flight and was really exhausted when I arrived. The same night I arrived we took another 2 hour flight inland and I was so tired that I slept through what apparently had been the worst couple of turbulence he had every experienced…
I traveled a lot afterwards and the flights were all pretty good. My husband and I traveled to Melbourne years before we moved to Australia together and had to stopover in Bangkok (stay on plane and then travel on) and while we had to wait for the transit passengers suddenly the cabin started getting foggier and foggier, it almost looked as if smoke was coming out the ventilation. It was a bit spooky but the crew was quick to inform us that it was normal and due to the humidity. At one point we really felt like being caught in thick fog. It very quickly disappeared once the cabin doors were shut.
Most recently, on our trip back to Switzerland we experienced really strong turbulence right before touch down. It was very scary, especially because of the kids. I was scared but scared for them, scared that something might happen to them. I could see the fear in their eyes. My son was amazing and helped me with my daughter. The seating arrangements on this type of plane are a bit annoying for a family of 4 as there were only rows of 3 and so I was sitting with the kids because they wanted to sit with me and my husband was on the other side of the aisle. It was that moment when all my worries about flying ever since I became a mom were way to present. It was the moment I thought about how I would be able to help both kids at the same time. But then I saw how my son stepped up.
We all arrived safe and sound. I guess everyone was happy to get out of this plane that night, frankly it was a huge mess.
How many bones, if any, have you broken?
I’ve never broken a bone so far. But I have almost cut part of one of my index fingers off playing with my Swiss Army Knife.
If you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be (guest can be dead, alive, famous or someone you just know)?
That’s a tricky one… Roger Federer… Ellen DeGeneres and the one person that inspires me the most in that very moment, famous or not. I could actually invite Ellen and let her chat with the Obamas! Yes! I’d love to have the Obamas there!
Make a Currently List: What are you reading, watching, listening to, eating, needing, wanting, and missing right now?
I just got the book “More Of Me” by Kathryn Evans. A friend of mine recommended it to me and it’s about a girl who multiplies at a certain age. Twelve girls and one identity. I will probably post as soon as I’ve read it.
Watching “Rizzoli & Isles” at the moment, a bit hooked on that show. Also planning to catch up on “Criminal Minds”. And started watching the old seasons of “Amazing Race” again. One of my favorite shows! We took the kids to the movies yesterday watching “Finding Dory” and we all loved it.

Eating… do we really need to go there??? I eat too much, too much. But still healthy. Almost all the time. Problem is that birthday cakes are hard to ignore, right? And we had some of them in the house recently… oh well… I always eat salad and vegetables. And that is healthy…
I need to finish this post so we can head out on our hike. But I really want to wrap it all up nicely and schedule it for tonight. I’m always in need of a hug because hugs are just the best things ever. I do want to hug my friend right now but she is not here and I know she needs a hug… well I hug her in my heart and hopefully she can feel it somehow.
Now I need some fresh air, ideally with some forest around me and some happy kids. And that’s what I will get soon. And when we are back I want to cuddle with everyone on the sofa and watch one more episode of “Amazing Race” before we go to bed.
Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
Everything. My life. The people in my life. The challenges we face, how we work on overcoming them. Knowing that the friends I have in my life are true friends. Right now I’m looking forward to our hike (the weather is so much better than we thought it would be) and over the next days my kids will have play dates with their buddies and a couple of day trips. It’s school holidays at the moment here so all of our kids friends are off too. The house will be full of little-ish people all the time over the next couple of days and that is something I like a lot. Lots of giggling kids 🙂
