Share Your World – 2016: Week 43

In my life before we moved Australia I spend a lot of time around journalists. Maybe that’s why questions and answers appeal to me. I believe you can learn a lot about a person by asking the right question and listening to the answer. It’s a great little game to then have follow up questions. Maybe sometimes, I use this kind of approach too much in my life… Anyway… It’s time for Cee’s Share Your World Challenge once again. Let’s see what she’d like to know this week:

What are you really glad you did yesterday?
I’m glad I went on a long walk with the dogs. The weather has been a bit up and down recently. I just thought about how different it was last year around this time. Much warmer, much more consistent. We actually been to the beach and the kids were in the water around this time of the year a year ago. Right now I can’t imagine letting them go into the water. It’s been too cold.

So spending the day outside yesterday after a couple of cold, wet and grey days was just perfect. It makes me feel so much better being out in the sun.

Would you prefer a one floor house or multiple levels?
Good question. I grew up in a multiple level home and it was what I was used to for a long time. My husband and I briefly lived in the apartment he lived in before we met, which was a one level apartment before renting a multi level house together. When we moved to Australia we moved back into an apartment. We downsized massively. At this point we actually lived half of the time over here in one level apartments and the second half in two story houses.

But now, what do I prefer… I couldn’t really tell you. As long as there is space and it’s the right fit for us I’m happy. There are upsides to two levels. I love having the bedrooms upstairs for some reason. But cleaning a one level home is much easier. I guess I would go for a multiple level home because I would think you get more space all in all and I would definitely want the bedrooms to be upstairs. Gives you more privacy. And somehow I feel safer like this. But that’s probably just because I grew up like that.

And you know what? A home is a home and you make it a home. No matter how it looks like…

Have you done something you truly want to do today?
Not just yet but I’m about to. I will head out to see my friend and have a catch up with her in a little bit. It’s been a while since I’ve seen her and I’m really looking forward to it.

What plans did you have as a teenager that didn’t happen? Are you happy it didn’t work out that way?
I wanted to become a lawyer and have a massive career. I also wanted to be the first female Bundesrat (kind of like a Prime Minister) in Switzerland. And I wanted to be the one person discovering the Titanic.

Whatever I would have chosen out of the three my life would have never been the same as it is now. I would have most probably never met my husband and I would have not moved to Australia. Everything happens for a reason and I think you only have regrets if you are not happy with the way your life presents itself at the moment. I also believe that if you’re not happy with your life you need to change something now. It doesn’t help hanging on to the past and having regrets. What was done was done and can’t be undone. I strongly believe that things happen for a reason and you should build on it and move on.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
As always I’m grateful for having my family and friends in my life. Every time I read this question I suddenly wonder if I live a boring life because I have nothing special to share here. My days are spent with the people I love (mostly) and therefor every moment with them is a gift. Head here to find out what I’m looking forward to in the week coming.
