52 Weeks Photo Challenge: Week 21 – Peaceful

We just said goodbye to the last year, the old year. While the past months still seem fresh it’s now about focusing on what the new year will bring. Starting it off with a photo challenge with the task to highlight something that is peaceful seems like the best way to do it.

Here is why I chose the pictures above for this challenge:

There is something peaceful about watching the world from above, traveling in a plane. The world seems so small, the problems seem far away and the opportunities seem almost innumerable.

The sunset ends the day and brings you the night. It’s that short time in between the two that appears incredibly peaceful. The gold in the sky that helps you slow down too and get ready for a well deserved rest.

The candle with its warm light will make for a peaceful atmosphere.

The ocean is a peaceful place, a place where I find my energy, my calm, my peace. I wish I could spend more time in the water, diving with the beautiful creatures there, like this turtle. Discovering what is down there.

Fog brings a certain kind of calm I feel. Of course only if it’s not sticking around but seeing landscape covered in fog gives me peace too.

A hike through the forest to the top of a hill with a fantastic view will always be something that I consider peaceful. If you can end it sitting around a campfire chatting with people you feel close to the day will definitely be a peaceful one.

Watching a listening to the rain come down is peaceful. After a couple of really hot days I enjoyed today’s morning inside sitting on the sofa, having my morning coffee and watching the rain.

The calm before the storm, a peaceful moment when it’s just you hours before the crowd will arrive.

When you talk about peaceful moments you should not forget to mention Christmas and Christmas decorations. I love our decoration to be peaceful and calm. No blinking lights. Christmas is the time to reflect, to focus inwards, to find peace.

I find a beautiful day on the beach or watching a storm rolling in peaceful and also looking outside a window, watching or imagining what is out there. Maybe watching a seagull fly by, wondering where its journey might take it.

I believe that we can find peace in everything. It doesn’t matter what it is. A beach day, a hike, spending time with friends, spending time alone. Even while doing your busy job. It’s the “decision” to see the peace in a moment, the “decision” to embrace it and to let it sink in.
