Mirror

I had this conversation with my husband late on Valentine’s Day night. It was about us, who’d we like to be and what we never want to become. It ended with the sentence “when I look in the mirror all I want to see…”.

Interestingly I read a post on Miriam’s blog just now that hits the mark for me and is down the line of what hubby and I talked about. In her post she responds to a photo challenge (Dutch Goes Photo: Tuesday Photo Challenge – Mirror) she lists what she sees when looking in the mirror. I have to say I could have written that list.

The way I see myself in a mirror changes. All the time. Not just year by year but day to day. One day I’m happy with what I see, one day I’m not. Just like Miriam I sometimes see a beautiful, content woman, happy with herself and the world. Just to then see a grumpy old-ish bird that is grumpy. Although I truly dislike seeing the second one I know she is as much part of me as the other one. The one thing I always see when I look in the mirror is an honest and good person. And that’s the person I never want to miss seeing. It’s the one thing that keeps me going and gives me confidence. It’s the one thing I can put my finger on it and say with 100% confidence when I talk about myself. I am a good person and I am an honest person. And I will not let anyone take this away from me. Believe me, that grumpy, old-ish bird has pretty sharp claws and they will come out if provoked 😉

The full rules of this challenge are in TPC Guidelines, here in short:

  • Write a post with an image for this week’s topic
  • Please tag your post with fpj-photo-challenge (if you’re not sure about how tags work, please check out this WordPress article about tagging posts)
  • Create a pingback link to this post, so that I can create a post showing all of the submissions over the week (note: pingbacks may not appear immediately, as my site is set up to require approval for linking to it; helps against previous bad experiences with spamming)
  • Have fun creating something new (or sharing something old)!!
