I’ve came across this a couple of times now and each time I see it I simply love it. There is actually so much to it. And it’s so simple:
I love this analogy!!!
You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere.
Why did you spill the coffee?
“Well because someone bumped into me, of course!”
Wrong answer.
You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup.
Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.
Fact is: Whatever is inside the cup, is what will spill out.
Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It’s easy to fake it, until you get rattled.
So we have to ask ourselves… βwhat’s in my cup and what will I spill?”…
When life gets tough, what spills over?
Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility?π
Or anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions? π£
You choose! π―
Today let’s work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation; and kindness, gentleness and love for others.ππ»ππ»ππ»
Hi.
Loved your post. And yes whatever is in there it spills out when life gives you a shake. To my amazement when I got shaken and totally uprooted what spilled out was beyond my imagination and is still spilling out and surprisingly, still the same content. I cannot be harsh or avenge. I just love, simply. Silly me!

I got a huge surprise when I realised what spilled out of my cup. A positive one and it was a great experience in some kind of way…

Wow! Next if I get a shake I hope to spill the positivity, too.

This is wonderful, Sandra. And so very accurate…we can only spill out what we have accumulated in there. Love it.

Glad you do. Itβs a good thing to use to teach the kids as well. So easy to picture and understand…

Reality is what it is – and you beautifully articulated it is how we react to it that matters most.
