For this weeks photo challenge Erica V. asks us: “Where do you belong? In the hustle and bustle of a big city or amongst friendly faces in a small town? For this week’s challenge, show us your place in the world.”
Frankly, I deeply believe that I belong with my family, no matter where we are. One of my fellow blogger once explained to me that there is such a thing like a soulmate but for a place as well. I know that there are places I would move to in a heartbeat. Because I feel a connection. So if it comes to showing you my place in the world I can’t pinpoint it to one.
Of course there is beautiful Melbourne, my city. A place I feel connected to. My home. And then there are other places, like crazy Hong Kong, where I totally think I could live. Maybe just for a while. But I would love to experience life there. Or then the smaller cities here in Australia, beautifully located right at the ocean. A place I discovered many years ago in a “different life” and thought I’d move to.
As beautiful the cities are I’m a small town girl and that part is still big in me. I love the little towns, the rhythm they live by, the option of walking for 5 minutes and finding yourself in the middle of a forest or on top of a mountain (well sort of…).
And then there are the places you travel to and explore and immediately feel a deep connection to. The kind of places you don’t want to leave anymore. They ones you know deep inside that they are worth packing up and moving. The ones, deep in your soul you know would be the ones you’d move to in a heartbeat…
It can be hard to explain how we feel connected to a place. Sometimes it just feels that way Lovely images 😊

Pingback: Place in the World – Beach, Dunes and Sea | What's (in) the Picture?
When we are where we feel we are too be, there is no feeling like it. It’s also very difficult to explain it, to put it into words. Whenever we are where we are supposed to be we find a calm in ourselves, too. Right then and there, all is right with the world.

These pictures are beautiful! I feel that way about wooded areas. There is something that just brings me such peace.

I love to be in the forest too. I think trees have an incredibly strong and beautiful energy.

I too believe it is where you feel a connection is a place of belonging. Lovely photographs – I recognise the ‘Goldie’ in all of them 🙂

This is lovely ❤ I agree. There are places that I always think back to with fond memories, because I loved my life there and what the town gave me.
Thanks so much for sharing this, and hope you have a great weekend! Xoxo
