Couples

Hi there 🙂

I had an idea in my head for such a long time already. Actually for years now: I would love to feature stories about how couples have met. Your first date, your first encounter and how your relationship developed from there.

And I need your help. Here is my story and I would really love it, if you would participate and share your story with me on my blog.

So if you are interested please let me know in the comments here or send me an email (amommasview@gmail.com)

Thank you all so much, who already participated and shared their story. You can find them here. And thank you all, who are about to send their story in. I appreciate it very much 🙂

  1. When out to lunch with my sister and the man she was dating at the time, I learned that he had four brothers. Being bold and wanting to get married and start a family (I was almost 31 after all), I asked if any of them was single and available. He gave my number to one of his brothers. His brother and I got along over the phone and set up a blind date.

On our first date we rode bicycles along the bike path from Hermosa Beach to Playa del Rey, where I had a bicycle accident that rendered me unable to sit for the remainder of the bike ride back to Hermosa Beach. Damn that over-sized men’s road bike and that very deep storm drain. I had no idea that I was about to fall hard on the bike’s frame. I only had eyes for my future husband’s face and was oblivious to my surroundings. We continued the date throughout the afternoon and evening, until I decided to call the advice nurse who instructed me to go to the emergency room STAT, cutting our date short at 9:30 pm.

Our second and third dates were similarly exciting. We went to Edwards Air Force Base and used flight simulators, and he took me flying over the Queen Mary. While over the Queen Mary, the door to the plane opened during a steep power bank leaving me with a view of ocean. I slammed the door shut even though I understood the physics that would keep me in the plane.

We’ve been together now for 20 years, married for 17, and have an adolescent son. My sister married my husband’s brother a year before we married, so our sons share grandparents on both sides.

  11. I was at a pool party on Canada Day when my future boyfriend clamored onto the patio. There was electronic house music playing and everyone was wearing their swim gear. It was getting hot with all of the dancing, so at one point I stopped and screamed, “CANNON BALL!!” and ran for the pool.
I ran as fast as I could and jumped into the pool and as I did the hot young man followed behind me and laughed as we hit the water and then surfaced at the same time. 🙂 We’ve been together ever since and we love telling our story to everyone who asks. Canada Day means a lot more to us now almost 3 years later. xox

  30. What a lovely (and romantic) idea! I just read your story, which was charming, beard and all. I know you were kind enough to suggest I send in my story ‘The Jerk and the Dude’, about a dating ‘conflict’ between my future hub and a celebrity encounter (guess who won out?) But here is the story about how I actually met The Dude (it’s pretty good too, if I do say so myself): http://alicewhitmoresblog.com/the-time-i-had-a-blind-date-with-an-eye-doctor/
