Blast From The Past – Out Of Reach

Do you sometimes feel that things you want to achieve seem so far out of reach? That the one person you want to be with is out of reach? That your dream job is out of reach? Is it making you freeze? Does it create fear? A feeling of missing out?

I bet we all deal with feelings like this, in one way or another. What I found out over the years is that you have to let go of this incredibly weight that the fear of missing out on something or someone can leave behind. And I do know how hard it is. But it’s even harder to carry the weight it all brings along.

I hope you don’t mind me sharing a post from a couple of years back about that fear of missing out…

Tell Me Something Good #117

Busted! It’s Tuesday once again here. I was thinking of this post all day yesterday but there was stuff going on that knocked me down and I just couldn’t get myself to write this post. I mean, I could totally pretend that everything is great and use all the positive and cheerful words to pretend I’m floating on a pink cloud of happiness. But yesterday was not a day like that and I don’t like to pretend although I put up a brave face anyway.

Today is a better day although still dealing with everything. But the good thing is, the clouds have settled and now it’s about moving forward from here. So let’s do this. Let’s kick this week off on a positive.

It’s easy:

• Mention something that you consider being good in the comments

• Or write a post about it on your blog (please don’t forget the pingback if you do so I don’t miss out and also share the link to it in the comments below). Something good that happened to you recently, or something good you will experience in a little while, or something good you know will happen soon. Something that makes you feel good.

• Share this post and invite your followers as well.

You know it by now! We are not moving any further without a little happy dance. So shake those hips and whatever else you need to shake and dance…

dance dancing GIF by The .GIFYS

Let’s dance. Move it. Enjoy it… Maybe let’s skip the drink… but other than that: Let’s wiggle around, shake those hips, shimmy and have fun. Dance into the week and take and let the mojo tango or salsa you through the week… and once you are done, here is what I’d like to share with you today:

“Alright… So yesterday was crap. A bad start into the day and then a cloud hanging over me for the rest of the day. I had plans for the evening, actually a business training event but I had to cancel. Too much for one day. So you are wondering where the good part is that I’d usually share here. The good thing is that I believe that things happen for a reason. There is simply no way you can change certain things and you have to accept and then run with it making the best of it. I live by the ‘one door closes, another one opens’ philosophy. So instead of heading to the training I took my daughter to her soccer training and took the dogs with me to walk with them while she was training. It was windy and grey and cold but it made me feel so much better. It was as if the cloud around my head was lifted. Suddenly the thoughts were able to flow again. Today was a much better day and the week will be much better as well. It’s truly what you make of a situation. So don’t let anything stop you! Get in charge of it. Grab it and then you run with it. Don’t let it run you!”

3 Days, 3 Quotes, 3 Tags – Day 2

It’s Day 2 in my quest to conquer this challenge. I’ve been recently nominated for the 3 Days, 3 Quotes, 3 Tags challenge by the mysterious cosistories. Mysterious just because her “About” or introduction which I still find one of the best ones out there. Don’t know cosistories? Well then head over! Time to see for yourself how the posts flow… And to you, AK, thanks heaps for nominating me for the challenge. I love quotes and therefore I love this challenge 🙂

Now to the challenge:

Song A Day, Second Round – Day 1

It’s the second round in the Song A Day Challenge for me and this time I got invited by Rob, whose blog Art By Rob Goldstein is truly amazing. I truly enjoyed the last “run” as it makes me think about the music I like to listen to and also why I do like the songs that much.

The rules are:

  • Post a song a Day for five consecutive days
  • Post what the lyrics mean to you ( optional)
  • Post the name of the song and video
  • Nominate two different bloggers each day of the challenge.

The song I’m sharing today is “special” because it’s one of the songs my daughter danced to in her dance school and I loved watching the girls expressing their feelings through dance. So now, every time I hear this song it puts a smile on my face and I remember how my daughter moved to the music. The words probably don’t mean too much to her yet but it’s the music itself that made her choose certain moves and just go with how it made her feel.

And it makes me think right now… Makes me think how often it would be good to only focus on how something makes you feel rather than paying too much attention to what is said…

Today I’d like to pass this challenge on to Miriam over at Out An’ About. The title of the most recent post on her blog made me think of one of one of my favorite songs…

Have fun, my friend 🙂

Song A Day Challenge – Day 2

I love a good challenge and I also love music. So the combination of the two make me excited. Thanks heaps to The Bag Lady, who has nominated me for the Song A Day Challenge. As it is the first time for me to participate in this challenge I had to have a look at the rules (here they are):

The rules are:

  • Post a song a Day for five consecutive days
  • Post what the lyrics mean to you ( optional)
  • Post the name of the song and video
  • Nominate two different bloggers each day of the challenge.

Not much to say about this one, just that it was one of the songs I listened to after a break up. Over and over and over and over again… mixed feelings… a lot of mixed feelings…

I would like to pass the challenge on to Just Plain Ol’ Vic today. Have fun… 🙂

Song A Day Challenge – Day 1

I love a good challenge and I also love music. So the combination of the two make me excited. Thanks heaps to The Bag Lady, who has nominated me for the Song A Day Challenge. As it is the first time for me to participate in this challenge I had to have a look at the rules (here they are):

Today’s song is Youssou N’Dour ft. Neneh Cherry’s “7 Seconds”.

It’s one of the songs I played over and over again many years ago and till today this part of the lyrics stands out to me:

And when a child is born into this world
It has no concept
Of the tone the skin it’s living in
And there’s a million voices
And there’s a million voices
To tell you what she should be thinking
So you better sober up for just a second…

Today I nominate sonofabeach96 for the challenge. Have fun 🙂

Mirror

I had this conversation with my husband late on Valentine’s Day night. It was about us, who’d we like to be and what we never want to become. It ended with the sentence “when I look in the mirror all I want to see…”.

Interestingly I read a post on Miriam’s blog just now that hits the mark for me and is down the line of what hubby and I talked about. In her post she responds to a photo challenge (Dutch Goes Photo: Tuesday Photo Challenge – Mirror) she lists what she sees when looking in the mirror. I have to say I could have written that list.

The way I see myself in a mirror changes. All the time. Not just year by year but day to day. One day I’m happy with what I see, one day I’m not. Just like Miriam I sometimes see a beautiful, content woman, happy with herself and the world. Just to then see a grumpy old-ish bird that is grumpy. Although I truly dislike seeing the second one I know she is as much part of me as the other one. The one thing I always see when I look in the mirror is an honest and good person. And that’s the person I never want to miss seeing. It’s the one thing that keeps me going and gives me confidence. It’s the one thing I can put my finger on it and say with 100% confidence when I talk about myself. I am a good person and I am an honest person. And I will not let anyone take this away from me. Believe me, that grumpy, old-ish bird has pretty sharp claws and they will come out if provoked 😉

The full rules of this challenge are in TPC Guidelines, here in short:

  • Write a post with an image for this week’s topic
  • Please tag your post with fpj-photo-challenge (if you’re not sure about how tags work, please check out this WordPress article about tagging posts)
  • Create a pingback link to this post, so that I can create a post showing all of the submissions over the week (note: pingbacks may not appear immediately, as my site is set up to require approval for linking to it; helps against previous bad experiences with spamming)
  • Have fun creating something new (or sharing something old)!!

The Quote Challenge Past, Present, Future – Day 2

Half and halfI have been invited to take part in the Quote Challenge by Rowena from Beyondtheflow. As I love quotes I of course accepted this challenge once more and thought I could give it a theme. After posting ‘Old Or New?’ yesterday I figured I would stick to the theme and post quotes about past, present and future over the next three days.

Rules of the Challenge

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you
  • Publish 3 quotes on 3 consecutive days on your blog. It can be your own, or from a book, movie or from anyone who inspires you.
  • Nominate 3 more bloggers to carry on this endeavor.

You are not defined by your past. You are prepared by your past. – Unknown

I would like to invite the following bloggers to participate in this challenge:

Faraday’s Candle
Estelea’s Blog
Wasted Days And Wasted Nights

The Scariest Post

Hitting that publish button usually feels pretty easy to me although I know that I should wait and read my post again in order to find some mistakes. There are some post I’ve written though, which I hesitated pressing publish. In a way it scared me knowing that I’m about to put this specific thought out there and was worried about the feedback I’d get. I’ve also deleted a couple of posts simply because I knew they would stir things up or reach someone who I didn’t want to read my thoughts on that subject via Facebook.
