Have you heard of the word xanthic? Or the color xanthic? You probably have… I never did. Until I stumbled across it while looking for cool X words to write about. And it actually offers me a wonderful possibility to combine two days of the #atozchallenge (to chatch up…) as xanthic is a shade of yellow… Can you see the xanthic in the yellow in my pictures?
Yellow is such a wonderful happy color and I figured why not using it for the “Y” post (I’m only slightly behind here) of the A to Z Challenge. But it’s also one of my favorite songs by Coldplay. So I figured I combine the two and I hope you will enjoy the pictures and also the song.
The color red is one of my favorite colors. So warm, so deep, so happy, so powerful, so bright. So many different shades…

… That snow is not white? Snow is actually clear and colorless!
“The complex structure of snow crystals results in countless tiny surfaces from which visible light is efficiently reflected. What little sunlight is absorbed by snow is absorbed uniformly over the wavelengths of visible light thus giving snow its white appearance.” – National Snow and Ice Data Center
I think there might be a little shade of mauve in those pictures… I love the color mauve. It’s so tranquil… if you can say that about a color… It’s also the color of my daughters favorite ballet outfit…

Intense colors is what catches the eye… It spices up the ‘normal’ picture, makes things stand out. I love the bright and intense colors you find in nature… if you look…
I just love the color orange and the fruit. It is juicy and sweet and healthy and the taste and smell of an orange just makes me feel good.

I feel like I get hooked to Jennifer Nichole Wells’ One Word Photo Challenge each and every time I head over to her blog and check out the new challenge. This one is another one which hit a soft spot.
I simply love the ocean. The soft waves, the big ones, the foam they form when they hit the beach. On one of my strolls along the beach I took the following pictures and I am glad I found a ‘reason’ to post them now. See that green color on the coral? This is apparently called seafoam. Things you learn…
Thanks, Jennifer Wells, for the inspiration.
