Be There

“You are in charge of your destiny.” How often do we hear this? So often. It’s out there, everywhere… Honestly: As positive as I intend to be, I call this bullshit.

Bullshit, because it’s simply not true.

There is no way we can be in charge of our destiny. Life throws us curve balls all the time. And it’s not as if we would even see it coming. We simply don’t know. It’s like driving a round and coming around a corner and the road has just disappeared. Or maybe it was evened out. But you have simply no way of knowing.

Tell Me Something Good #126

Hello my lovely blogging friends. I know I’ve been missing in action all of last week. I just needed a total break from blogging, an unplugging from this part of my life in that sense. Not that I don’t appreciate you (you don’t know how much I do appreciate all of you), but I simply had to focus on some other parts of my life.

Today I’m back and I’d love to share something with you that is incredibly close to my heart. And I thought why not use the Tell Me Something Good posts to do so. So let’s kick off this week with something positive.

It’s easy:

• Mention something that you consider being good in the comments

• Or write a post about it on your blog (please don’t forget the pingback if you do so I don’t miss out and also share the link to it in the comments below). Something good that happened to you recently, or something good you will experience in a little while, or something good you know will happen soon. Something that makes you feel good.

• Share this post and invite your followers as well.

You know it by now! We are not moving any further without a little happy dance. It really doesn’t matter which style of dancing you like. Just do it. Just dance! Enjoy yourself 🙂

Come on, don’t go down without a proper “fight”! I challenge you: Dance-off time! Let’s do this!

And when you are done here is what I’d like to share with you today:

“For all my life I always thought that my dad’s life is worth a book. He had no ordinary life. It’s seriously an incredible story and it would be a shame to not tell it. But I simply wasn’t brave enough to start writing it. A couple of years ago I met with a guy who is sort of into mentoring authors but it never really led to anything. But I remember how we talked about our families and he mentioned how writing a book about his mom actually helped him to write books. I couldn’t relate really. He then said ‘you should do it. Who better to tell your dad’s story?’…

See, I thought my dad’s story is too big for me to write. Over the last couple of years though I met all kind of wonderful people from all walks of life and so many told me to write his story. But there was this voice in my head. It kept me from starting. There was the fear that I would not be good enough. Well… until now. Or better until last week. I started. And boy, did it feel good. So if I’m missing in action again here, please note that I’m not leaving all of you. I’m writing. I’m writing a story that is very important to me. And I want to focus on it.

You will see me here. I’m not leaving. And I will keep you posted because you should totally read his story when I’ve finished writing it…”

Oh my! I totally dropped the ball this time! I’m currently in training for a new position and my brain is mush. Today while on my way back home I suddenly realized that I have never posted this although I had prepared it. So here we are, mid way through the week already! So maybe rather than kicking off the week on the right foot we might just make the best out of the rest of the week this time…

It’s easy:

• Mention something that you consider being good in the comments

• Or write a post about it on your blog (please don’t forget the pingback if you do so I don’t miss out and also share the link to it in the comments below). What do you mean you’re done? No, no, no… I know you have much more in you… So keep going. I promise it makes you feel good, diapers or no diapers… 😉 And once you are done, here is what I’d like to share with you today:

“As I just mentioned I am currently in training for a new position. It’s heaps of fun and a great atmosphere. I think I learned more over the last 3 days than I learned over the last 10 years. No wonder my brain is mush. I guess I’m not used to processing new information the way I was a couple of years ago.
So while I spend much more time away from home than I’m used to it’s nice to see that it works while I’m not home. They don’t really need me. It doesn’t mean they don’t need me. Confused? Well I explain: They can totally get everything sorted while I’m not here. But they are still super happy when I’m back and it’s good to see how appreciated I am (tempted to say ‘especially by the dogs as they are not leaving my side ever since I came back home’…)”

Busted! It’s Tuesday once again here. I was thinking of this post all day yesterday but there was stuff going on that knocked me down and I just couldn’t get myself to write this post. I mean, I could totally pretend that everything is great and use all the positive and cheerful words to pretend I’m floating on a pink cloud of happiness. But yesterday was not a day like that and I don’t like to pretend although I put up a brave face anyway.

Today is a better day although still dealing with everything. But the good thing is, the clouds have settled and now it’s about moving forward from here. So let’s do this. Let’s kick this week off on a positive.

It’s easy:

• Mention something that you consider being good in the comments

• Or write a post about it on your blog (please don’t forget the pingback if you do so I don’t miss out and also share the link to it in the comments below). You know it by now! We are not moving any further without a little happy dance. So shake those hips and whatever else you need to shake and dance…

Let’s dance. Move it. Enjoy it… Maybe let’s skip the drink… but other than that: Let’s wiggle around, shake those hips, shimmy and have fun. Dance into the week and take and let the mojo tango or salsa you through the week… and once you are done, here is what I’d like to share with you today:

“Alright… So yesterday was crap. A bad start into the day and then a cloud hanging over me for the rest of the day. I had plans for the evening, actually a business training event but I had to cancel. Too much for one day. So you are wondering where the good part is that I’d usually share here. The good thing is that I believe that things happen for a reason. There is simply no way you can change certain things and you have to accept and then run with it making the best of it. I live by the ‘one door closes, another one opens’ philosophy. So instead of heading to the training I took my daughter to her soccer training and took the dogs with me to walk with them while she was training. It was windy and grey and cold but it made me feel so much better. It was as if the cloud around my head was lifted. Suddenly the thoughts were able to flow again. Today was a much better day and the week will be much better as well. It’s truly what you make of a situation. So don’t let anything stop you! Get in charge of it. Grab it and then you run with it. Don’t let it run you!”

How Many

I’m pretty sure we have wondered about what someone might think. We all get there. The question is: What do you make of it? How do you move forward from this train of thoughts? Or why don’t you?

Why does it matter?

I always find it interesting to see how much value we give something that should not even enter our minds. I find it interesting to see that we all care about the opinion of a stranger at one point or another.

Hopefully we mature and realize that the opinion of a stranger is not important. It doesn’t matter what someone thinks of us that has never even met us. What matters is how people feel about us who truly know us. And the kind of character they have.

The people who are your real friends, your tribe, the people with value will not talk badly behind your back. They will describe what they like about you. What they cherish in your friendship.

Our life is much easier if we focus on what truly matters. If we look for quality instead of quantity…

Let’s dip that Monday in glitter and sparkle all day. And while we are at it how about we sparkle all week? Let’s start this week in a positive way.

“Being ask to write a guest post for a blog you admire is simply amazing. That’s one of the amazing things that happened to me (stay tuned). On top of that I got asked to work an event with a friend of mine and while it was a demanding role and my body feels super sore today, it was amazing and gave me the buzz I needed. The last couple of days were amazing as we also spent heaps of family time, heading to places we’ve been and places we’ve never been before and experienced our “backyard” as a family. I feel like one of those toys you could wind up and they would then go full speed. All of this gave me so much energy and I can’t wait for the next couple of outings we have planned…”
