Monkey Business – Nature Chills Challenge #3

Hahaha… these fellows really chill in nature! Thank you so much for this great post!

NihongoJapango

One of my favourite places to visit in Japan. The snow monkeys in Jigokudani, Nagano, Japan. Jigokudani means “Hell Valley” It is a snowy chilly little place with thermal activity resulting in some natural hot springs along side a swift running river. It is also the habitat for some Japanese Macaque monkeys who love to come down and bath in the pools.

These wee fellows just chill out, groom each other and soak away the stresses of monkey life in the pools, seemingly oblivious to the snappy happy tourists who come to see them. They may even be wondering why we are so shy and don’t get our kit off and get in for a soak with them. This area is for the monkeys only but they have been known to wander over to nearby hot spring lodges and use the guest pools.

I love visiting and just spending sometime chilling out…

Out on the river,  no-one else around
Enjoying the peace of Nature’s sound
Puttering gently, not making waves,
It’s a different world.
Banks of birds, overlapping trees,
The soft caress of a summer breeze
Ruffles my hair, kisses my skin,
Worth more than the brightest gold.
Cloudless skies on a sunny day
No anger or worries to get in our way
All is calm, still and quiet,
Life’s perfection to behold.

We are now more or less in the middle of the Nature Chills Challenge #3 and I thought it’s time to list the posts that have been entered so far.

Tell me what makes you chill in nature, makes you happy, relax, feel good… and share it in a post in the Nature Chills Challenge. You can find all the details here.

Since I live in the desert near mountains, hiking has become one of my favorite pastimes to get away from it all.  I stop and take pictures and breath in the fresh air.  We even take my toddler with us and he loves to sit in the dirt and play with the rocks.  Life is peaceful in the mountains and it makes our troubles seem far away.

However, I miss the water.  We have Lake Mead.  It’s is a rocky beach and it is beautiful but it’s not the beach at the ocean.

The ocean beach is my haven.  The waves crashing against the rocks.  The sun beating down on the sand.  Running across the hot sand to get to the spot where you will lay out the blanket and soak up the rays.  My favorite part of being at the beach is sitting at the shallow…

There was light – Nature Chills Challenge #3

Here is the first post for the ‘Nature Chills Challenge #3’. Although short it reflects how nature can make you feel…

Books, Music, Photography, & Movies

Komorebi…. a word I finally found out for my obsession to see the light filtering through the trees. I am always fascinated by it. Always. I took this photograph when I went to my Zumba class on last Saturday morning and it was taken in a park near by. I was so happy to see the sun shine bright after a couple of gloomy rainy days. Since I am not that good with words, I am gonna go with the following quote and submit this post as my first entry to Nature Chills Challenge.

“The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity… and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.” ― William Blake
