Tell Me Something Good #113

Image result for monday the only day you can wear the same

I don’t really understand why people struggle with Mondays. I mean, there is so much positive to say about Monday. It’s a day you are alive. It’s a day you can change what you want or need to change in your life. It’s a day where you can wear what you were wearing the day before and nobody would notice (well, besides your children…). And it’s always the beginning of a new week. So let’s do this. Let’s start this week with lots of positivity.

It’s easy:

• Mention something that you consider being good in the comments

• Or write a post about it on your blog (please don’t forget the pingback if you do so I don’t miss out and also share the link to it in the comments below). Something good that happened to you recently, or something good you will experience in a little while, or something good you know will happen soon. Something that makes you feel good.

• Share this post and invite your followers as well.

You know it by now! We are not moving any further without a little happy dance. So shake those hips and whatever else you need to shake and dance…

Let’s dance. Move it. Enjoy it… and once you are done, here is what I’d like to share with you today:

“I love to watch my daughter when she plays soccer. She has such a love for the game. And yesterday she not only did some fantastic safes while in the goal but she also scored a great goal while in attack. The girls did so well and it’s just so great to see the fun they have, the grit, the determination and the passion.”

#atozchallenge – R For Reaction

My daughter plays soccer and her favorite position is being a goalie. I admire her for this. I believe it takes a lot of guts to play as goalie no matter if it’s in ice hockey or soccer. Or any other sport where you have a goal keeper.

Not only do I admire her for being brave enough to be the last line of defence, but also for grabbing the ball while it’s still in play, out of the many feet trying to kick it hard enough to get it past her.

And then there is her reaction time.

In some games the defense does such a great job that the goalie basically has no work at all. It’s then when staying focused is hard. Because the game can turn around. Suddenly. And then the attacker storm towards the goalie, keen to score. It’s a guessing game. Where will they try to kick the ball to? How hard will they kick? Is there another pass? Will the player kick from the right foot or the left one? Lift the ball or not? And then it’s all about how fast you react. When is the right moment to go forward, further back, try to get the ball?

A decision has to be made and the reaction has to follow right after. Hopefully it will be the right decision and a fast enough reaction…

Tell Me Something Good #68

Following up one of my posts from a couple of days ago. If someone judges you harshly it’s probably because they fear you will be at a place they want to be before them. It’s because they are not happy with their life. So for this week I want you to keep something in mind: Negativity will never bring you further. And the same with judging. If you want things to change then actively take actions and don’t try to make someone else appear less than they are.

It’s a unusual way to start this post, I know. I had a very intense encounter with a soccer parent yesterday which is still getting to me. More soon. For now let’s focus on the positive, let’s kick off this week on a good note and gain momentum for the rest of the week.

Before I share my positive thing with you today how about we all feel happy, or even really content with yourself. Feel like you did it! And celebrate it!

Yes! Do it! I’m sure there is a reason for it! Be proud. Be happy, be excited, celebrate it. And when you are done here is what I’d like to share with you today:

“Sometimes it’s enough to realize that you are not like someone else to make you feel good. And this time I honestly mean that you are would never let yourself go in such a way. It’s good to see that the group of people you are part of doesn’t support certain behavior either and has the same values you have. As shocking as it can be to see people flip out and completely lose it, it’s good to see that the people you are surrounded with are as shocked as you are but also don’t tolerate it. It’s good to see that the values we teach our children, the team my daughter is part of are the right ones and that the girls act according to those values.”

Let’s do this. Let’s kick off this week with a positive thought. By sharing something good, something that made you happy or you are looking forward to .

It’s easy:

  • Mention something that you consider being good in the comments
  • Or write a post about it on your blog (please don’t forget the pingback if you do so I don’t miss out and also share the link to it in the comments below). Before I share my good thing today I’d like to have a little giggle with you all. Nothing better than giggling, right. So let’s have a giggle.

A happy giggle. And another giggle. Just giggle. Everybody does it. And it’s actually contagious. So let’s make as many people as possible giggle.

“I had actually a lot of giggles this weekend, enjoying our soccer kick off picnic of my daughter’s team and all parents. It’s a great group of parents, everyone on the same page, everyone getting along and we usually have heaps of fun when we get together. The girls are not only a great soccer team but they have become great friends over the last 4 years and what I love is to see how they welcome new additions to the team. Everyone has a very special role in the team and it’s fun to see how the roles have developed over the years. I often wonder where they all will go from here. And if they will remain friends for a lifetime. But hey, that’s all in the future. For now I enjoy the good vibe we have and I’m looking forward seeing them in action again soon.”

Commitment

As I’ve mentioned I spent most of Sunday inside, watching a big group of kids on stage. Witnessing my daughter and everyone else rehearse their upcoming show was simply amazing. Of course I’m proud as a mother to see how much her dancing has improved. Of course I’m happy to see that she is doing something she so clearly loves. But watching her was about so much more. It was about commitment.

Guest Post: Sandra of Momma’s View, on Dad Coaches

Seems like today is all about reblogging. This is a reblog of a guest post I was invited to write for nobody less than Coach Daddy, a blogger I can only highly recommend reading.

I was wondering: Have you ever coached a youth team in any sport? What is your experience?

It’s cool to find your tribe.

GAD GRAPHICEven if you just hear about them. I recently wrote 11 questions for a youth soccer coach. Quietly, I don’t officially have a team for this fall. It’s the first time since Swedish tennis player Anna Holmstrom finished fourth in the 1912 Stockholm Olympics.

So, it’s been a while.

I wrote the questions for the next generation of youth soccer coaches. Dudes with accents and pointy hair and fantastic calves tend to infiltrate the sidelines of those of us out of Generation X, we of graying roofs and middle-age spread.
