Tell Me Something Good #133

Hello my lovely blogging friend. It’s still Monday somewhere in this world and the week is still young anyway. So let’s not waste too much time and kick this week off on a positive thought 🙂

It’s easy:

• Mention something that you consider being good in the comments

• Or write a post about it on your blog (please don’t forget the pingback if you do so I don’t miss out and also share the link to it in the comments below). Something good that happened to you recently, or something good you will experience in a little while, or something good you know will happen soon. Something that makes you feel good.

• Share this post and invite your followers as well.

You know it by now! We are not moving any further without a little happy dance. It really doesn’t matter which style of dancing you like. Just do it. Just dance! Maybe you dance with a group of friends… even if they are different than you, or just by yourself. In any case: Have some fun! There apparently is a study proving that you immediately feel better if you start jumping and wiggling around. So that has to be the same thing with dancing, right?

So wiggle and jump, shake and shimmy and when you are done here is what I’d like to share with you today. And it’s totally different than my usual shares. Because it comes in the form of a music video. Just because this song makes me feel so so SO good 🙂

I’ve been enjoying the weekend way too much, hence totally missing out on posting this when it was supposed to be up. But hey, it’s not too late, the week is still young, so let’s kick it off on a positive

It’s easy:

• Mention something that you consider being good in the comments

• Or write a post about it on your blog (please don’t forget the pingback if you do so I don’t miss out and also share the link to it in the comments below). Just keep it going 🙂 Do another round and simply enjoy… and when you had enough, then maybe do another round. And when you feel that is it, here is what I’d like to share with all of you today:

“We spent the weekend catching up with friends. We saw a friend we have not seen for many, many years and had an amazing time. Then we were invited over for dinner by the family of my friend, who passed away recently. We had a great evening and it was lovely to see how well they deal with everything. How they created a new reality without really forgetting about the old one. It makes you realize that you are truly in charge of your life and happiness and, even in dark and sad moments, you can create happiness.”

I had the most wonderful Monday today. So let’s make one thing clear: Monday is not a bad day! It’s a day just like Tuesday or Wednesday, or Thursday. Maybe not as awesome as Friday but it’s a great day. And I struggle with bashing it. So let’s cherish Monday! Cherish it because it is the beginning of a new week. A week you can take charge of, a week you should look forward to because it will bring you many great moments.

So let’s start this week on a positive.

It’s easy:

• Mention something that you consider being good in the comments

• Or write a post about it on your blog (please don’t forget the pingback if you do so I don’t miss out and also share the link to it in the comments below). Shake those feathers and move those feet… And when you are sure that you are done (hey, you can always add some more rounds after reading the rest of this post…) here is what I’d like to share with you all today:

“I had the most amazing day today. I decided that I would tackle the beginning of the new week a bit slower than the last couple of weeks. Read a bit, watch some inspiring videos and then go to the beach. Nothing wrong with that. It was a gorgeous day here, 30C and sunny and the beach was just wonderful. The water was nice (not icy), there was only a slight breeze and just a handful of people as lucky as I am. I love to dip my feet in the water this time of the year because it will give me a chill. The water here is basically always cold and no matter of having had a couple of warm days, it wasn’t any different today. But I decided I want more. So found a spot where the water seemed slightly warmer than elsewhere, applied the 5 second rule (counted from 5 backwards) and started to swim. This first moment, when the cold water almost takes your breath away… you know that one? So I was in, swimming a couple of strokes and then I couldn’t help but getting to a more shallow part and stand up. I had goosebumps although the air was very warm. But I knew that from here on it would be so much easier to get back into the water. I swear, it was amazing. I still feel refreshed, although it’s still hot outside. There are so many parallels we can draw in life. Like today with getting into the water. Sometimes we just have to jump, or emerge ourselves in what seems slightly uncomfortable to then find that it’s actually well worth while…”

Happy Monday to you. We are enjoying a long weekend this weekend, which means that many of us have the day off down here in the South part of Australia. And then tomorrow will be the big public holiday: Melbourne Cup Day. When we were Aussie newbies it surprised me that a horse race could actually stop a nation but down here it does. It’s quite a show, I have to say. Celebrities, beautiful gowns (it’s all about who is wearing what and looks the best) and entertainment are as big of a deal as the actual race. And then of course there are all of the people that don’t really know their limits (or don’t care) and drink way too much. Which can make for some pretty funny short movies that then go viral… or create huge drama…

Anyway: It’s a long weekend and that of course is always great. The kids will catch up with their friends and we… well we will just have a bit of a lazy day and catch up on some house or garden work.

So let’s start this week on a positive.

It’s easy:

• Mention something that you consider being good in the comments

• Or write a post about it on your blog (please don’t forget the pingback if you do so I don’t miss out and also share the link to it in the comments below). And once you are done, here is what I’d like to share with you all:

“Well, the good thing this week clearly is that it’s a short week due to the long weekend. But it’s also spring and we had some wonderful days recently. Beach days. And that is always a good thing. So while it cooled down yet again we got a taste of summer and the beach once again and all our beach summer gear is ready for some more time in the sand…”

Tell Me Something Good #128

Happy Monday to you. We are way on the way towards summer and spring has definitely sprung down here in Australia. I tell you: I’m so ready for warm and sunny weather. Apparently this week will serve us more or less everything. From nice spring weather (like just now) to really chilly and almost winter-y weather later on. But that’s Melbourne. Always a trick up its sleeve.

So let’s start this week on a positive.

It’s easy:

• Mention something that you consider being good in the comments

• Or write a post about it on your blog (please don’t forget the pingback if you do so I don’t miss out and also share the link to it in the comments below). Shake it! Have some fun. And when you think you are done, why not adding one more round of shimmy to the day?

Are you sure you are done? Well then here is what I’d like to share with you today:

“My daughter’s passion and commitment for the things she does are amazing. I love watching her play soccer or dance. Or doing her martial art. What she takes on she does properly, always putting her best effort forward. Yesterday they she had her annual dance show. Something they work towards to for months. It’s the highlight of the year and as one girl said ‘once it’s here it’s over in now time’. It was amazing to watch them all dance. Most of all of course my daughter. Every year everyone is looking forward to the costume reveal and most of the time you are blown away by the beautiful creations. Sometimes though you pick the short straw and end up with a costume that is not really that nice. It happens. And this year one of hers was probably the worst of all of them (as most parents agreed). She hated it. She was disappointed. She wondered how someone can possibly choose something like this. Yet she was up there, on stage, rocking that costume, giving her all, smiling and performing. And she looked stunning.

Sometimes we get handed a short straw. We can go into hiding and give into the frustration or we can do what my girl did, put a smile on our face, accept that we can’t change it and just run with it (or in her case dance). Needless to say, that I’m a super proud mom (as always)…”

Mondays are sneaking up on me recently and my Christmas countdown tells me that there are only 77 days left till then… That means that there are only 83 days left in this year… And here I am thinking 2018 has only just started.

But let’s not focus on the end of the year yet but rather on the beginning of a new week and let’s kick it off on a good note:

It’s easy:

• Mention something that you consider being good in the comments

• Or write a post about it on your blog (please don’t forget the pingback if you do so I don’t miss out and also share the link to it in the comments below). Do another round. Feel it loosen the tension. Do it to put a smile on your face. Do it to relax. Do it to get a break from whatever you are doing. Do it to get your mind off something that bothers you. Or do it to simply get your heart rate up a little.

“Today we decided to take the day off instead of school, work, you name it. We are just about to head out on one of our favorite hikes and spend some quality time together. While I love being at home, it’s good to get out sometimes and just get some perspectives and a day on the beach or hiking will provide it. I love how the kids enjoy going on hikes with us oldies. The talks we have when out and about are always great and simply being outside in the fresh air and sun is simply amazing. While both of them are really active devices are all too present while at home and it’s great to just leave them behind and head out.

Don’t get me wrong, we don’t suffer from a proper device curse where you are unable to talk to your kids or get them off the sofa. Recently I watched a show on TV about families really struggling with their kids’ addiction to games. While I believe that the issues go much deeper and you could get on top of it by ‘simply being a parent’, it was mind blowing to see how switched off those kids were. As if the world around them didn’t exist anymore. So when I watch my teenager and preteen climb over rocks, look for lizards, enjoying the views, smelling the air, chatting along while walking, I can’t help but feeling content and happy.”

Tell Me Something Good #126

Hello my lovely blogging friends. I know I’ve been missing in action all of last week. I just needed a total break from blogging, an unplugging from this part of my life in that sense. Not that I don’t appreciate you (you don’t know how much I do appreciate all of you), but I simply had to focus on some other parts of my life.

Today I’m back and I’d love to share something with you that is incredibly close to my heart. And I thought why not use the Tell Me Something Good posts to do so. So let’s kick off this week with something positive.

It’s easy:

• Mention something that you consider being good in the comments

• Or write a post about it on your blog (please don’t forget the pingback if you do so I don’t miss out and also share the link to it in the comments below). Come on, don’t go down without a proper “fight”! I challenge you: Dance-off time! Let’s do this!

And when you are done here is what I’d like to share with you today:

“For all my life I always thought that my dad’s life is worth a book. He had no ordinary life. It’s seriously an incredible story and it would be a shame to not tell it. But I simply wasn’t brave enough to start writing it. A couple of years ago I met with a guy who is sort of into mentoring authors but it never really led to anything. But I remember how we talked about our families and he mentioned how writing a book about his mom actually helped him to write books. I couldn’t relate really. He then said ‘you should do it. Who better to tell your dad’s story?’…

See, I thought my dad’s story is too big for me to write. Over the last couple of years though I met all kind of wonderful people from all walks of life and so many told me to write his story. But there was this voice in my head. It kept me from starting. There was the fear that I would not be good enough. Well… until now. Or better until last week. I started. And boy, did it feel good. So if I’m missing in action again here, please note that I’m not leaving all of you. I’m writing. I’m writing a story that is very important to me. And I want to focus on it.

You will see me here. I’m not leaving. And I will keep you posted because you should totally read his story when I’ve finished writing it…”

Hello everyone, how are you all? How was your weekend and are you ready for a fantastic week? I sure am! I don’t really know what it is but I feel super energized. Maybe it’s the wonderful weather we currently have. Who knows. But let’s all get some spring in our steps. Let’s kick off the week on a positive note:

It’s easy:

• Mention something that you consider being good in the comments

Common, let’s dance! Let’s loosen up and get a bit funky…  I’m sure you can do it. Nobody is watching… Feel the beat and move to the rhythm. And once you are done… you do another round because it will make you feel so much better… Done? Are you sure? Oh well then… here is what I’d like to share with you today:

“We had the most wonderful spring day today. There was a lot to do for me today but I took some time out and had a little break outside in the sun, soaking it all up and feeling wonderful. Funny what spring can do, don’t you think? Just the sun and the good weather. And maybe some good little conversations I had today too. Do you sometimes have days where you just feel ‘light’ and happy? Without any particular reason? I sure hope you do because I think days like this are the most amazing days ever…”

There is no hiding behind the fact that I totally dropped the ball once again…

It’s Wednesday over here by now and this post has not been up yet! Shame on me! It’s been a crazy couple of days. On so many levels. But this is about making this week good and focusing on something positive, right? So let’s do it:

Common, let’s disco 😉 I’m sure you can do it. Feel the beat and move to the rhythm. And once you are done… you do another round because it will make you feel so much better… Done? Are you sure? Oh well then… here is what I’d like to share with you today:

“I’m tired. Tired from days and days of training. Brain overload you could say. And I’m not at the place I want to be right now. Not because I feel I didn’t learn enough but rather because I can’t shake the feeling that the role I thought would be so great seems to not fit me more and more. Today is a day off and it helps me to get clarity of how I feel about it. I simply don’t manage to shake the feeling that it’s going against so many things that are important for me. I guess the good thing is that there is always an out and also to realize it’s not a fit in the early stages, when the out is much easier and the ‘damage’ less. The voices in my head could shut up though, you know. It’s the typical good vs evil and it truly feels like they are sitting on my shoulders screaming at each other… hehehe… maybe I will just not listen for a day  or so… You might wonder what’s supposed to be good in regards to this message?

Well, it’s realizing what is actually important for me and where my values are. Not that I haven’t been aware of it but it’s good to see that they are strong enough to actually make me stop and think and that I am strong enough to let them. It’s not easy to admit that something is not the right fit. It’s not easy to walk out of something you started because you thought it’s amazing. Too many stay put because they can’t do it. Was it all for nothing? Most likely not. I learned heaps. About all kind of things but mainly about myself and who I am…”

Tell Me Something Good #122

Oh my! I totally dropped the ball this time! I’m currently in training for a new position and my brain is mush. Today while on my way back home I suddenly realized that I have never posted this although I had prepared it. So here we are, mid way through the week already! So maybe rather than kicking off the week on the right foot we might just make the best out of the rest of the week this time…

It’s easy:

• Mention something that you consider being good in the comments

• Or write a post about it on your blog (please don’t forget the pingback if you do so I don’t miss out and also share the link to it in the comments below). What do you mean you’re done? No, no, no… I know you have much more in you… So keep going. I promise it makes you feel good, diapers or no diapers… 😉 And once you are done, here is what I’d like to share with you today:

“As I just mentioned I am currently in training for a new position. It’s heaps of fun and a great atmosphere. I think I learned more over the last 3 days than I learned over the last 10 years. No wonder my brain is mush. I guess I’m not used to processing new information the way I was a couple of years ago.
So while I spend much more time away from home than I’m used to it’s nice to see that it works while I’m not home. They don’t really need me. It doesn’t mean they don’t need me. Confused? Well I explain: They can totally get everything sorted while I’m not here. But they are still super happy when I’m back and it’s good to see how appreciated I am (tempted to say ‘especially by the dogs as they are not leaving my side ever since I came back home’…)”
