I realized that some of the blog I follow suddenly didn’t appear in my Reader anymore, or that I’ve haven’t seen any posts for a very long time anymore. When I then checked the blogs out I saw, that apparently I’m no longer following those blogs! Seriously? I only un-followed two blogs in the time I’m blogging! Anybody else experiencing this? Or any explanation what could have happened? Where there any technical issues I’m not aware of? Any changes? It really annoys me. I feel like I missed out on some really great posts…
*sarcastic* Great.
Careful, Momma. This is what happened to OM.

Chances are you’re whatever he was before WordPress stopped liking him. My guess is you’ll be fine, though. You aren’t the pessimistic bother he is half of (or is that three quarters?) the time.

I sure hope WordPress fixes your following ability. I haven’t noticed the problem over in my backwater site, probably because I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to read other blogs or notice if I’m not getting emails.

Oh, I can follow people. As any as I like but suddenly some are unfollowed. And look at the other comments. It’s not just me…

I know…so I see. It started with OM and now it’s spreading. Wonder what WordPress will say about it now…I’m staying out of it this time, though. Besides, I just got back from a day of bouldering and I’m too tired to think…

Was it fun?

Indeed it was. I’m pooped now. I climbed about 35 flights of stairs worth of giant boulders, according to my phone health app.

Doctorly said that she noticed 6months ago already. Seems like it was already an issue then. Another blogger said that he has mentioned it to them and they claim that he probably unfollowed by mistake. Oh what can you do…

You can sit back and pretend you don’t care, so nothing can bother you…lol I’m sorry I sound like a grump, like I said I’m tired…and I still want to get some of Penumbra written before I hit the hay…

I noticed the first time when I did not see any posts from OM anymore. And he is blogging enough! So I headed over to his blog and realized that I was no longer following him. Although I was pretty sure that I did not unfollow him, I thought it might have happened by mistake. And then I checked out some other blogs that I really enjoy reading and would never unfollow. And boom! Apparently I was no longer following them either. So I followed them again… And then I see some of my followers, bloggers that regularly commenting my post following me again… And two days later again… And then again. So there really seems to be an issue. I think it must be a glitch. But I also think they should be able to fix it.

Are you still following OM? His site is private now. Are you a viewer?

Yes, I am. I sent him an email a while ago after he posted something about writing him if you still want to follow him…

yes it is a wordpress glitch, it has been happening for almost 2 months, people complain to the support boards and those idiots at wordpress keep saying it is the user doing it not wordpress, it’s annoying and frustrating to say the least

I think it had been going on longer than two months. I and others that I am aware of started experiencing it maybe six months ago. Maddening.

Already? That’s crazy! Do they try to keep the numbers of followers per blog down? WTF?

I don’t know that it is on purpose. I like to think that it isn’t, that it is just a glitch they cannot figure out. For a while I thought it was how I was scrolling through my reader on my smart phone but I changed how I was doing that and it is still happening so…. (Shrugs)

Okay, let’s call it a glitch then…

I’ve experienced this as well. A number of my followers have told me that they’ve somehow ‘unfollowed’ my blog. I hope WordPress gets this fixed soon.

Indeed! I’ve notice ebbs in views on my blog that were followed up by followers saying that they had no idea that they were not following my blog any longer. It is so annoying!

Happens to me too. I follow anyone who follows me, then I feel bad because I go look and it says I’m not following the people I just followed.

I have noticed this too. When I am in Reader, I see people that I know that I am following that have the Follow Button next to them when I search in the categories. I have noticed the same people re-following me over & over again as well. It is weird & annoying.

It happens to me, too. I also thought it was my fat fingers screwing up when reading on mobile, but then I noticed that a few people I’ve followed–who never showed up in my reader at all–showed up that way. And even after following them again multiple times, it still comes up like that after a day or so. So weird. And annoying.

Why can’t they fix it? I really don’t understand…

Same here, I “unfollow” others all the time and I really feel bad when I have to re-follow a blogger I know very well. As if I was stupid to keep him.

I find that when I’m scrolling through the reader I seem to unfollow blogs inadvertently by touching the follow button.

It happened to me too.. Or can i say its HAPPENING to me too. There are blogs that are no longer showing in my feed. And at times im surprised im no longer following people.

Right? It’s weird. Many have said that they unfollow blogs by mistake while scrolling down the reader. How? I tend to not put my finger on the little dot where you can follow or unfollow a blog. To make this unfollowing mistake just can’t be that easy…

I agree. I hope that these can be fixed

Yep, same over here! I don’t know with how many blogs that might have been happenede. But I noticed it pretty fast with those bloggers who are posting daily since I missed their posts. Also I others told me that they were unfollowed. What I noticed else is that my comment viewer sometimes doesn’t show all comments. It is very uncomfortable and annoying since this issue persists for a while already.

Yes! And then comments of followers go to spam although I have approved to them before and their message is not containing all those special little words the filter obviously reacts on…

Yes, exactly! Happens over here too! I have to check my spam folder at times in order to see if something “accidentially” slipt in there.

It has happened to me too. Also I notice that I have been re-followed by people as well, so it seems to be pretty widespread.

After seeing the comments, I’m feeling better… seems like the problem is widespread. I just wonder why they don’t fix it…

I don’t understand that either as I am sure that they have been informed of the problem 🙂

I have not noticed it, but the amount of people this has happened to in your comments, maybe I should check. Come to think of it there, there are a few bloggers I have not heard from in a while.
Thanks for the heads up! 🙂

Most of what I was going to say has been said…..but yes and yes and yes. And certainly it’s been going on longer than 2 months. Having the “like” button next to the “follow” button on the bar at the top doesn’t help. I’ve hit that on more than one occasion and unfollowed someone by mistake (but THAT I catch) when the WP glitches don’t show the ‘like’ button after a post. But that issue you usually catch right away.

Yep… well, I hope they get that glitch under control…

I’ve had similar instances and have gone into the relevant blogs directly having checked on my ‘blogs I follow’ list that they are still there. I have lost and refollowed three in total, but not all at the same time. Odd.

I’ve noticed that some blogs don’t show up in my reader anymore, or they show up only on the app or the computer but not both. I don’t know what the glitch is.

I did some user error type of thing in the past, it’s easy when scrolling around to accidentally “unclick” the following button (in top left corner of screen.) Also, in you admin area, there’s spots to unclick there, as well. I’ve found that I have done that a couple of times.

Same thing happened to me, hun! One of my favourites, Lifestyles by Lia, just disappears off my reader. Drives me crazy. Also happened between me and A PROMPT Reply, who is another complete favourite. I think it is a glitch. Only advice is that if you aren’t seeing stuff from your faves, give them a visit and see if you are still following. It’s always worth checking. 🙂 Mother Hen

This has been known to happen. What I do is I subscribe when possible via email that I send to an address set up just for such emails. That way, my inbox isn’t inundated and I can keep up with everyone at my leisure rather than keeping up with the reader.
