A Momma’s View On The Election

I will not make this too long. I know that the options are most probably not the greatest. But I sure hope America will choose wisely. Choose wisely in regards to tolerance, acceptance, peace, role models, respect and safety.

All I can think about now is that if this goes wrong, the world will have to deal with one big bully. All I can think of is that if this goes wrong everything we teach our children goes out the window because very obviously all those values were ignored in the election. Imagine the impact it will have on our future generations! Bullying is what you want to do, treating women like meat will be the normal way, hate, intolerance, racism and chauvinism will be the things to achieve and live by.

Kindness will go out the window. And what about freedom? Yes, what about it? Do you really think a “leader” like this would let you live freely? Look at what he stands for. Then look at history and think hard. Don’t you think we saw this before? Don’t you think there were people following a guy like this before because they thought he is the one strong leader, simply because he built on their fear? And where did it lead? Back then it was about a religion. Back then it was not a wall but camps.

For the first time in my life I feel truly anxious. And I hope America has voted wisely…

  1. I am right there with you. I am very anxious about the outcome of the election. I want somebody who my kids can look at as a true leader…not somebody who bullies and belittles people because they think they can. I do believe this country is going to be sitting on pins and needles tomorrow.

    • There will be an aftermath in any case, I believe. I just hope we will still be able to look our children in the eye and say that we did all we can to make this world a better place…

      • Yep….that is the scary part about all of it. I know in my heart that I did my part…that’s all I can do and hope for the best!

      • How could you possibly think the world will be a better place with either of these candidates. As to voting for the lesser of two evils, there is no lesser, only evil skewed in different directions. I am going to contribute one more blog on the subject, go vote and then ignore the rest of election day as nearly as possible. Years ago I adopted the policy of worrying only about those things that I can influence or change. The sorry state of US politics does not make the cut.

      • Oh I don’t think it will be a better place with either of them in charge. It’s sad that those two are the only option. And you are right, there is only that much we can do and influence, everything else is not up to us. I keep my fingers crossed that it all will end well. Or as well as possible…

  2. Never in my life have I see TWO candidates that are BOTH so unworthy of our highest office, each for their own reasons. Perhaps these are the candidates we deserve since we have allowed our political system to degenerate to what it has.

  3. This truly is a scary election!! You want it so badly to be a bad dream and wake up and have 2 new candidates to choose from! I will do my part tomorrow and just praying that the rest of America will do the right thing!

    • I know, but seriously? The way it’s shaping up right now… I have no words. I always thought it would be great to live in the USA. Now I’m glad I’m not there. I have honestly no words for what is happening right now.

  4. Woke up very anxious today and can’t shake it. I feel like the pit of my stomach wants to come out through my belly button. I’m going to hold out hope till the last second though. Even if my belly hurts. ā¤

  5. So, with my 20/20 hindsight more than a week later, it appears that we may now have a new “silent majority” (at least as far as electoral college goes) as Tricky Dick Nixon once said during one of his campaigns. Now, those silent people have been heard through their votes and it will be interesting to see if they will like the end result. I don’t think it will go as far as Nazi Germany went, but that’s why I am grateful for the existence of Israel, if the US ever degenerated even near that sorry state of affairs. Tricky Dick resigned before he could be impeached and we were fortunate at that time that we ended up with as decent a man as Gerald Ford. If, as some have postulated, the Donald may be impeached, we’d now end up with the much worse evangelical Christian conservative Mike Pence.
